Practice Policies

At Sensibly Moved, your session time is reserved exclusively for you. Because this work involves dedicated preparation, intentional space-holding, and individualized care, we ask that you review and respect the following boundaries and booking guidelines.

1. 24-Hour Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

We understand that unexpected life events, illness, and schedule conflicts arise. However, because our appointment times are limited, short-notice cancellations directly impact our small practice.

  •  Standard Notice Requirement: We require a minimum of 24 hours’ advance notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment without penalty.

  •  Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Appointments cancelled, altered, or missed with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to 100% of the scheduled session fee, charged to the credit card on file.

  •  Rescheduling Grace Option: If you need to cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, you may avoid the late cancellation fee by choosing to reschedule within 24 hours of your cancellation.

  1.  Note on timing: You do not have to be seen within 24 hours—your new appointment can be set for any mutually agreeable future date. However, the booking for that future date must be completed within 24 hours of cancelling.

  2.  Commitment requirement: This newly rescheduled appointment must be kept. Because this grace option waives an immediate fee, if the rescheduled session is subsequently cancelled, changed, or missed—regardless of how far in advance notice is given for the second date—your card on file will be billed for the session fee.

  3.  Gift or Transfer Your Session (Send a Stand-In): If you cannot attend your scheduled session on short notice, you are always welcome to send a friend, colleague, or family member in your place. Please let us know as soon as possible with their name and contact information so we can provide them with the necessary intake paperwork before they arrive.

Therapist Discretion: We recognize that severe emergencies, sudden acute illness, or unforeseen crises occur. Acceptance, waiver, or adjustment of fees for short-notice cancellations remains solely at the therapist’s professional discretion.

2. Punctuality & Late Arrivals

Your appointment begins and ends at the scheduled time.

  •  If you arrive late, your session will conclude at the designated finish time so subsequent clients are not delayed.

  •  The full session fee applies regardless of arrival time.

3. Health & Contagious Conditions

Bodywork places demands on the body’s circulatory and immune systems. For your well-being and the safety of our studio environment:

  •  Please reach out immediately if you develop a fever, contagious illness (cold, flu, COVID-19), gastrointestinal infection, or an acute undiagnosed skin rash.

  •  Receiving massage while acutely ill can strain your body and nervous system. We appreciate communication as early as possible so we can address rescheduling under our therapist discretion policy.

4. Scope of Practice & Professional Boundaries

  •  Therapeutic Intent: Sessions provided by Sensibly Moved with Melissa A. Griffin, CMT focus on therapeutic relaxation, myofascial tension relief, somatic awareness, and nervous system regulation. Bodywork is not a substitute for medical examination, diagnosis, or medical treatment.

  •  Mutual Respect & Zero Tolerance: The therapeutic relationship is grounded in safety, professional trust, and clear energetic and physical boundaries. Any illicit, sexual, aggressive, or inappropriate conduct will result in the immediate termination of the session, and the full fee will be charged without refund.
