A potent Mix of
science and Soul
A session with me isn't something I do to you -
It's something we move through together. What unfolds in that space is a collaboration.
My hands are present, yes. But massage in the traditional sense — the idea of someone working out your tension for you — is only a surface description of what’s actually happening.
What I’m really doing is creating conditions.
I’m holding a container steady enough that your body feels safe to do
what it already knows how to do.
The primary focus of my work is with the nervous system. Not relaxation as a destination,
but regulation — and the path there is always through the breath and embodiment.
These aren’t techniques I apply to you.
They’re invitations I extend, and your body responds when it’s ready.
When you drop into your body — really land in it — the nervous system follows.
It stops bracing. It stops scanning for threat. And what you feel when you get off the table and say “I feel so relaxed.” ? That’s not relaxation exactly. That’s what it feels like to be in yourself.
Embodied. Present.
That feeling is yours — and you created it.
Where my hands move during a session is not planned. It’s a conversation with your body, and your body is always telling me something. There’s an intelligence in the tissues that I’ve learned to listen to, and I follow it. But here’s what matters: wherever my hands are resting is a prompt for you. It’s an invitation to bring your own awareness into that space — to notice what’s there. Because something usually is: A memory. A feeling. An old pattern of held tension that hasn’t found a language yet. My presence there creates an opening, but your awareness — your willingness to witness what’s living in that part of your body — is what actually allows it to move or release or simply be acknowledged.
I’m not the one healing you.
I want to be really clear about that. I’m the stable ground you can do the work from.
That change comes from you.
If you're in Santa Rosa or anywhere in Sonoma County and you've been looking for something beyond typical Massage- something that actually creates change and helps you find your footing - I'd love to work with you.

“Melissa is the most gifted bodyworker I have ever worked with. Over the many years I have had the honor of being her client, she has held a safe space for me. She has helped me recover from frozen shoulder syndrome, facilitated my healing from numerous desk-job related injuries, and even helped my body process and release deep trauma. Her work is physical, emotional and energetic. Whenever I’m on her table I feel seen, accepted and deeply supported. She has taught me how to build from our treatments with movement and stretching exercises, but never in a way that feels overwhelming. Her knowledge of the body is truly inspiring. If she’s taking on new clients, don’t walk - run to get on her calendar!"

“Melissa is a truly gifted massage therapist, with amazing technique and intuition. My body relaxes the moment she puts her hands on me. It is truly a privilege to work with her and I can’t remember her highly enough.”
